πŸŽ‰πŸŒŸ **Rock On with the Seminole Holland Neighborhood Association!** πŸŒŸπŸŽ‰

Hold onto your hats, folks, because the Seminole Holland Neighborhood Association is on fire πŸ”₯, and they're not slowing down anytime soon!

Let's take a look at what this dynamic group has been up to: They kicked things off in April with a joint neighborhood cleanup that had everyone rolling up their sleeves to make their community shine. Not content with just one event, they followed up with a litter pickup at the McDaniel Moore Park, showing their commitment to keeping their green spaces clean and beautiful. And they didn't stop there! In May another litter pickup at McDaniel Moore Park showed their dedication to keeping the momentum going. Plus, they hosted a potluck along with valuable BDS (Building Development Services) information, proving they know how to mix fun with important community updates. As summer heated up in June, they threw a Summer Bash at McDaniel Moore Park, ensuring that everyone had a blast under the sun.

There's more excitement on the horizon: Mark your calendars for the Harvest Potluck and presentation August 28th, where you can enjoy delicious food and learn about what's next for the neighborhood. On September 7th, we will help with the Messiah Lutheran Church Neighborhood Cleanup. Get ready for Lantern Walk, Board member elections, and Halloween Trunk or Treat in October - a perfect opportunity to stroll under the stars, have your voice heard in shaping your neighborhood's future, and provide a safe Halloween alternative event. The Bass Pro Cheering Challenge is coming up in November, and the Dancing Pickles are gearing up for a rip-roaring good time! πŸŽ‰πŸ₯’

And guess what? The Seminole Holland Neighborhood Association wants to hear from YOU! If you've got ideas for activities or events, don't hesitate to reach out to the Board at SeminoleHolland@gmail.com or attend one of their exciting Board meetings, always open to the public. Get involved, get excited, say hi to a neighbor, and let's keep the energy going in Seminole Holland! 🌟✨

Seminole Holland Neighborhood Association and the Nextdoor Online App

What's the difference between our Seminole Holland Neighborhood Association and the Nextdoor online app? It has come to our attention that some residents may be confusing the two, so we wanted to provide some clarity.

The Seminole Holland Neighborhood Association is a community organization that aims to foster a sense of community, promote the well-being of our neighborhood, and enhance the quality of life for all residents. We organize various events and activities, such as neighborhood cleanups, block parties, and holiday celebrations. We also work closely with local government officials and law enforcement agencies to address any concerns or issues that affect our community.

On the other hand, the Nextdoor app is an online platform that allows residents to connect with their neighbors and stay up to date on neighborhood news, events, and issues. While the app can be a useful tool for communication and staying informed, it is not a replacement for our Neighborhood Association. The app does not organize events or address community issues in the same way that our association does.

We encourage all residents to join both the Nextdoor app and our Neighborhood Association to stay informed and get involved in our community. By working together, we can make our neighborhood an even better place to live.

Seminole Holland Neighborhood Association dues for residents are only $5 per year and can be paid online at www.SeminoleHolland.com.

The Importance of Voting

Voting is an important civic duty that is essential to maintaining a healthy democracy. By voting, individuals can help elect leaders who reflect their values and beliefs. It is a way to express opinions on issues that are important to them, and to hold politicians accountable for their actions. One of the most significant reasons why voting is important is that it gives power to the people. Voting allows citizens to choose their representatives and leaders who will make decisions on their behalf. By casting their vote, citizens have a say in the policies and laws that govern their daily lives. This is especially important in issues that affect basic human rights, such as healthcare, education, and employment. Voting is also a way to ensure that the voices of minorities and marginalized groups are heard. It is a way to give a voice to those who are often ignored or silenced. By voting, individuals can advocate for their own interests and for the interests of their community. In addition, voting is an essential way to protect democracy. When people do not vote, they are essentially allowing others to make decisions for them. This can lead to a lack of representation and a loss of faith in the democratic process. By voting, citizens can ensure that their voices are heard and that their rights are protected. It is important to note that voting is not just a right but also a responsibility. Every citizen has a role to play in ensuring that democracy thrives. Voting is an opportunity to make a difference in the world and to shape the future for generations to come. In conclusion, voting is a critical part of the democratic process. It is a way for citizens to have a say in the decisions that impact their lives, advocate for their own interests and for the interests of their community, and protect democracy. By exercising their right to vote, citizens can make a difference in the world and shape the future of their community and country.

Homeowners Association versus Neighborhood Association

What’s the difference?

A homeowner’s association is formed by a developer and pertains to a specific subdivision or project. The association provides the framework for the future maintenance of the development’s common grounds and amenities, for instance a pool, clubhouse or common area landscaping. All homeowners are compelled to follow the codes, covenants and restrictions (CC&Rs) governing the development and pay association dues. A neighborhood association is a section of a city with a common identity. Neighborhood associations offer a place to meet friends, exchange information, create projects and priorities, propose solutions, and have fun.

A neighborhood association is formed based on the needs and desires of its residents. The association gives residents a forum to discuss common concerns and to brainstorm possible solutions. Some potential outcomes may be: improved street lighting, bike paths, sidewalks, traffic calming devices, parks and open spaces, zoning and land-use planning, park amenities, beautification projects and neighborhood cleanups. Many neighborhood associations have summer picnics, holiday parties and other special events in order to have fun as well as to keep the lines of communication open with neighbors.

Organized neighborhood associations give citizens a voice and an advocate. Neighborhood associations greatly improve the two-way communication between the City and its residents.

Organizing also opens the door to increased communications with city government. Neighborhood association leaders serve as liaisons between City staff, City Council and other neighborhood associations. This increased communication can be a resource for upcoming meetings or other community opportunities.

Question 1 - Galloway Village

Springfield voters will see Question 1 on their ballots when they go to vote on November 8. You are encouraged to become familiar with this issue that pits a neighborhood against a developer and the City Council. The outcome will impact the entire city. Voting NO will help assure that all neighborhoods in the city will have a voice about future development. One source of information is the Galloway Village Neighborhood Association website at www.gallowayvillage.org.

What Would You Like to See in the Seminole Holland Neighborhood?

What would you like to see accomplished in the Seminole Holland neighborhood? Let us know in the web contact form or email us at SeminoleHolland@gmail.com.

Here are some ideas to help get the conversation going...

I would like to see:

  • a place for people to meet and have events
  • a crackdown on speeding vehicles
  • people getting help to maintain their property
  • more compliance with city laws about parking vehicles in the front yard
  • less commercial encroachment into the residential areas
  • enhanced pride in the neighborhood
  • people getting to know their neighbors
Your Neighborhood Association needs to know what you think is most important. We probably can't solve every problem overnight, but we can try to steer the boat in the right direction.
