Fun and Funds: The Seminole Holland Neighborhood Joins the Bass Pro Cheering Challenge

Are you ready to witness an epic display of community spirit and enthusiasm? Mark your calendars for Sunday, November 5, 2023, because the Bass Pro Cheering Challenge is coming, and the Seminole Holland Neighborhood has been cordially invited to take part in this exciting event!

Our designated spot for all the action is none other than the heart of our neighborhood, located at the intersection of East McGee Street and South Jefferson Avenue. This is where the magic will happen, and we'll need your support to make it memorable.

Participating in the Bass Pro Cheering Challenge isn't just about fun; it's also an opportunity to win a financial incentive for our beloved neighborhood. The more people we have, the better our chances of claiming victory!

Two Shifts, Double the Fun: To ensure we have a strong presence throughout the day, we've organized two shifts for our community members:

Shift 1 (6 am - 10 am): Rise and shine, early birds! The first shift is perfect for those who are ready to kickstart the day with energy and excitement.

Shift 2 (10 am - 2 pm): Don't worry if mornings aren't your thing. Join us for the second shift and keep the enthusiasm going strong.

Our theme for this event is bound to make you smile. We're calling ourselves "The Dancing Pickles." Imagine a sea of green shirts dancing and cheering together – it's going to be a sight to behold! Wear Your Green Shirt! To truly represent our theme and show our unity, we're asking everyone to wear a green shirt. Let's turn our neighborhood into a sea of green as we cheer on the runners!

We need your help to make this day unforgettable. To participate, we must have at least ten enthusiastic community members. If you're ready to join the fun, sign up for one or more shifts. Your presence will make a difference! Sign up today.

Go the Extra Mile - Wear a Pickle Costume: For those who are feeling extra adventurous and don't mind some pickle-themed fun, we're also looking for volunteers to wear one of our two pickle costumes. It's sure to bring extra flair to our "Dancing Pickles" theme.

The Bass Pro Cheering Challenge is an excellent opportunity for the Seminole Holland Neighborhood to come together, have a blast, and potentially win a financial incentive for our neighborhood. Let's show our strength in numbers and cheer our hearts out as "The Dancing Pickles" on Sunday, November 5, 2023. Sign up, invite your neighbors, and let's make our presence felt in a big way!

MaMa Jean's Celebrating 21 Years

Help Us Win Cash at the Bass Pro Marathon Neighborhood Cheering Challenge

Would you volunteer to work a five hour shift or two on November 5, 2023 to represent the Seminole Holland Neighborhood Association in the Bass Pro Marathon Neighborhood Cheering Challenge? We are required to have at least ten participants for a cheering section. The location and specific hours will be determined once there is a final count of all the neighborhoods participating. We are developing a strong theme – signage, costumes, food/beverage options, and so forth - to help runners identify us and give us a better opportunity to win a cash prize for the neighborhood association. We expect to have two shifts each five hours long and you can volunteer for one or two shifts. To sign up, visit our volunteer opportunities page, call 816-289-6485, or email SeminoleHolland@gmail.com.

Illuminating Safety: Neighborhood Lantern Walk Promotes Pedestrian Safety

Over 115 community members came together for a lantern walk to Phelps Grove Park on October 7th, 2023. This event, which began with nine participants from our neighborhood starting their walk from Sunshine School, had a dual purpose - fun and education. Along the lantern-lit journey, attendees engaged in discussions about pedestrian safety. The event aimed to raise awareness and empower participants to be safer pedestrians and drivers. This gathering highlighted the importance of small actions in creating a safer community. Make plans now to participate next October.

Lantern Making Workshop Update

Even fully grown neighbors can come to the Lantern Workshop and make up to TEN luminaries for their road frontage on Saturday.

We have well over a hundred soda bottles!

And if they’re not gone by 6 pm, you can have them all! They look so pretty with sand in them.
